Taiwanese culture is deeply influenced by Confucianism. Confucius was the first teacher to provide education for everyone withoutdiscrimination. Teacher's Day was established to commemorate Confucius. Thus, his birthday, September 28th, became Teacher's Day to honor his dedication.
台灣文化受「儒家思想」的影響很深，常聽到的「有教無類」、「因材施教」便是由孔夫子所提倡的教育理念。而教師節最一開始是為了紀念孔子，因此將九月二十八日孔子誕辰這天設為教師節。

美國教師節獨有的「謝師週」。
美國的教師節在5月第一個完整週的週二，又稱「謝師週」。
